One More Member of Conservative Party Was Detained

June 25, 2009

Kakha Kukava, a leader of Conservative Party keeps blaming government for political persecution of opposition party members.

Today at the press conference he stated that on June, 24 Mamuka Chkhvimiani, one of the members of his party was detained. Chkhvimiani is the head of Dmanisi HQ for the Conservative Party.

According to Kukava, Mamuka Chkhvimiani is accused for the purchase and possession of weapons. The fact of Chkhvimiani’s detention confirms once again that the government still continues terror of the opposition party members. Kukava reminded the journalists that some days ago a representative of Khobi District HQ for the Conservative Party was detained as well.

“There have been detained 70 people on political purpose since April 9” said Kukava.
