School Directors Are Instructed to Gain Information about Political Opinions of the Personnel

July 9, 2009

Directors of Public Schools are ordered to gain information about political views of the personnel and provide the data to the education resource centers till July 30.

As Kakheti resource center reported, some directors confirmed the fact; however they did not want to make their names public. Several directors admitted that they were personally ordered by the head of the education resource center.

Lali Gabitashvili, the head of Gurjaani education resource center categorically denied the fact of giving such orders.

It should be pointed out that in 2008 before the parliamentary elections teachers whose family members or friends worked for opposition parties were fired from schools.
