The Human Rights Centre Demands a Criminal Case be Initiated Against Patrol Police Officer

August 3, 2009

The Kakheti regional office of NGO Human Rights Center demands that a criminal case be begun against  Kakheti patrol police officers.

Last Thursday, without explanation, patrol police officers confiscated the cars of the representatives of the Telavi and Gurjaani District offices of the Georgian political party the “New Rights”.

It was said in the Kakheti regional office of the Human Rights centre that:“The police officers transported two confiscated cars to the police penalty parking lot without explaining why they confiscated the cars. The police did not write a protocol for an administrative misdemeanor. The next day the law enforcement officers fined the car owners 10 GEL, made them pay the parking fee and then gave the cars back. It is obvious that the patrol police officers carried out the illegal orders of their bosses. And also, they exceeded their power which is punishable by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
