Badri Bitsadze: “Russians Control the Border between Georgia and Dagestan- the Republic in the Russian Federation”

August 6, 2009

Badri Bitsadze, the former head of the Border Police of Georgia confirms the information publicized several days ago that the Georgian borderguards moved the Georgian border down several km. in the Tusheti (region in the NorthEast part of Georgia).

Bitsadze claims that Russians control the border between Georgia and Dagestan, a Republic of the Russian Federation. “The Georgian Special Task Force used to control that territory. Now Russians are there,” said the former head of Border Police. Bitsadze claimed that Georgians moved the border down in Tusheti, Mamisoni and Kazbegi and Russians occupied the emptied territory.

The Border Police of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs of Georgia does not confirm this information. They claim that the Georgian border, especially the northern border, is strictly controlled.
