The Sighnaghi District Governor is Accused of Misappropriating Fuel

August 11, 2009

The employees of the Sighnaghi District Governor’s Office accused Nodar Kochlamazashvili, the District Governor, of misappropriating the fuel that had been bought for the District Governor’s Office.

The employees of District Governor’s Office claim that the office buys about one tons of fuel every month with the money allotted from the Sighnaghi Municipal budget. They claim the whole office staff has the right to use the fuel for cars when they drive in their work but that only District Governor uses the fuel and gives it to his family.

The Sighnaghi District Governor says that the accusation of his subordinates is groundless. “The accusation is groundless. Tell me who gives you this information? It is not your business. I use one  or two tons of fuel. Should I ask for permission for putting fuel into my car? The district budget belongs to Sighnaghi and not you. The District Governor’s Office manages it and I am the District Governor,” stated Nodar Kochlamazashvili.
