The Judge Dismissed Lasha Chkhartishvili from Levan Gogichaishvili’s Trial

August 25, 2009

Judge Davit Jugheli dismissed Lasha Chkhartishvili, one of the leaders of Conservative Party from Levan Gogichaishvili’s trial. The trial was being held in the Tbilisi City Court.

Lasha Chkhartishvili said that the judge dismissed him for violating court order. However, Chkhartishvili thinks that his dismissal was in fact connected with politics.

“Judge Davit Jugheli wants to have as few public activists and politicians on the trial as possible so that violations are not uncovered. However, we will not stop controlling the trial. The questions that were being asked during the trial were not serious at all,” said Chkhartishvili.

After having left the court Chkhartishvili said that the trial was still under way and the prosecutor was presenting the evidence against Gogichaishvili.
