A 12-member Family Is Forced to Live on 14 GEL

August 27, 2009

Giorgi Robitashvili, social agent of the Social Service Agency in the Dedoplistsqaro district, threatens a 12-member family of the Karsamauli to cease poverty allowances in the village of Japaridze.

Darejan Karsamauli says that of the 12 members of her family, she is the only one who works and she is paid 160 GEL. “Our house is in very bad condition. We are in such a difficult situation that we do not even have enough beds and we sleep in turns. In spite of this, the government refused to give us aid until I went to Tbilisi 6 times. Now this social agent threatens me and says that if I have a job I do not need aid. How can 160 GEL be enough for a 12-member family? Can they live on 14 GEL a month?”, Darejan Karsamauli said.

Families with an income do not need poverty allowances, as is stated in the Social Service Agency in the Dedoplistsqaro district.
