Houses Damaged During the Reconstruction in Sighnaghi Are Pulling Down

September 8, 2009

Giorgi Pashalishvili, resident of Rustaveli Street N 14 in Sighnaghi is threatening with the suicide in front of the district administration. His house was damaged during the reconstruction works in Sighnaghi and is pulling down now.

Giorgi Pashalishvili said he has official conclusion which proves that his house was damaged during the reconstruction of the town. However, nobody has ever assisted him. Director General of the Building Company “Tbilisi” Kurashvili promised the victimized person to resolve his problems but nothing has been done yet.

Nodar Kochlamazashvili, Sighnaghi district governor, said the administration has received many complaints about damaged houses; applicants request to reconstruct their houses. “In 2007-2008 Building Company “Tbilisi” was carrying out reconstruction activities in Sighnaghi within state program. During the reconstruction buildings were damaged by the rain when tin plates of the roofs were being replaced with tiles. The company was not ready for the reconstruction activities. Part of houses shall be reconstructed and inhabitants are complaining about it. We have written to the Building Company several times and request them to finish the work but there was no reaction from them,” said Sighnaghi district governor.

Giorgi Ghviniashvili, Kakheti regional governor, also promised his assistance to the victimized people several times. Last year he said in his interview with the Kakheti News Center that he was personally committed to the problem resolution; however nearly twenty families were deceived by the regional governor too.
