Public Defender Requests Protection of Georgian Sailors Who Work Abroad

According to the information of the Public Defender’s Office the Ombudsman requested Paata Kalandadze, head of Consul Department of the Foreign Ministry of Georgia, to protect the rights of Georgian sailors abroad.

Tengiz Mukhashavria sent mail to the Public Defender in the name of the crew of the Liberia flagged-ship.

Mukhashavria states in his email that there are 22 Georgian members in the crew and they have been working on the ship without salaries for 5 months already. Thus they live like hostages and cannot return home. Public Defender requested Paata Kalandadze to study the fact and taken correspondent measures.
