Bernard Kouchner Demands to Allow EU Monitors into Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Regions

October 1, 2009

Foreign Minister of France Bernard Kouchner demands to allow EU monitors into Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions. He said in his interview with radio station ‘Ekho Moskvi’.

Kouchner stated that Russia has not complied with Medvedev-Sarkozy agreement since international monitors cannot enter Abkhazia and the so called South Ossetia.

‘Russia has breached the agreement. More precisely, it does not allow EU monitors into the conflict zones”, Kouchner stated.

The EU Monitoring Mission started its activities in Georgia on October 1, 2008. Despite the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreement representatives of Moscow and puppet governments of Tskhinvali and Sokhumi do not allow them into Abkhazia and the so called South Ossetia.
