Movement “Join Us” Continues Fight to Protect Political Prisoners

October 5, 2009

The coalition of organizations “Join us” was established as a movement today. This movement was established to protect political prisoners, but they will not focus only on those cases. They will also protect socially disabled people. This movement is going to study the problems in the court and to react on those problems. According to the head of the organization, Tiko Nibloshvili the court still depends on the executive government; despite many promises of the government, nothing has changed in this system.
The lawyer Akaki Daraselia collaborates with the organization. According to him, this movement is going to study the cases of illegally confiscated and misappropriated businesses in the country. The lawyer added that one of similar cases is “Elite Electronics” which ceased its activities.

The priority of the movement is monitoring of the activities of the City Hall. According to Akaki Daraselia, there are illegal ways of enrichment in the City Hall and the members of the movement will unleash these facts soon.

The organization states that there is optional justice in Georgia. They mentioned the examples: arbitrary detainees Vako Grdzelishvili, Mamuka Shengelia, Dito Daraselia, who are still in prison, and on the other hand so called “national criminals” who serve minimal terms for grave crimes.

The movement “Join Us” will continue struggle against everything illegal with all possible legal ways.
