MP Dimitri Lortkipanidze from the opposition party suggests the new public defender to execute his duties properly and he categorically criticizes his statement about overcrowding of detention settings.
Today, at special parliamentary session Dimitri Lortkipanidze responded to the statement of the public defender where the latter said that although one of the detention setting is overcrowded, every country has faces similar problems and it can be resolved by adding beds in the cells.
“We can give such recommendation to attendant of Batumi-Tbilisi train,” said Lortkipanidze and reminded Tughushi of his rights and responsibilities.
Herewith, the MP paid particular attention to the Ksani prison, where over 700 serve their terms in the detention setting designed for 422 inmates and most of them suffer from tuberculosis as well as from AIDS and C-hepatitis.
According to the MP these prisoners should have their terms postponed and called upon to the public defender to visit them and taking urgent measures.
