Eco-Migrant Family with Five Children Might Remain Homeless

October 16, 2009

Guram Tsetskhladze’s large family from the village of Samtatskaro in Dedoplistskaro District might remain without house. The police officers have already warned the family to leave the house voluntarily before 17 October; otherwise they will be evicted under force.

Guram Tsetskhladze stated he bought the house in the village of Samtatskaro about one year ago from Emzar Tsiklauri and paid 1000 USD as a part of total price. Later he found out that Tsiklauri had sold and registered the house on another person.

“We hold confirmation on having taken money from us. The new owner of the house compels us to leave the house, but we cannot go anywhere”, says Guram Tsetskhladze. Tsetskhladzes are ecological migrants. They were settled in Samtatskaro from mountainous region of Adjara Autonomous Republic a few years ago.

Emzar Tsiklauri denies their accusations. According to Tsiklauri, there is no confirmation letter signed by him which can prove that he had taken money from the Tsetskhladzes.

Guram Tsetskhladze urges the human rights organizations for help. His family is beyond poverty level and they cannot hire a lawyer who can protect their rights at the court.
