Protest Rally to Support TV-25 in Batumi

October 16, 2009

Political Movement for the Just Georgia with Zurab Noghaideli as a leader organized a protest rally to support Batumi based independent TV Company TV 25, which started in Batumi.

Zurab Noghaideli, the representatives of the Batumi offices of the opposition parties, non –governmental organizations and journalists participate in the protest rally.

The protest rally started from the building of TV Company and will reach Tbilisi Square. They will put up posters and so- called stickers on the buildings in the streets.

Later, the supporters of the TV-25 will go to the territory of Khobi market, where the protest rally will end.

Based on the decision of the Batumi City Court, TV company, which broadcasts in Adjara Autonomous Republic, has to pay  debts of 350 000 GEL that were accumulated during the governance of Aslan Abashidze. Unless they pay the debt the property of the TV Company will be sold on the auction.

Zurab Noghaideli considers that this is fabricated accusation; the government tries to close one more opposition channel.
