Residents of Naindrovali Blame Government for Inattention

October 19, 2009

Residents of the village of Naindrovali in Lagodekhi district, who were victimized during the water-flood, blame the local authority for inattention.

Reportedly, several weeks ago 100 % of the harvest in Naindrovali was damaged. The families have their domestic animals and poultry dead; the ground floors of the houses got flooded. The victimized people claim the commission, which was set up to assess the damage in the district, has not studied the situation yet. “We are fighting the results of the disaster with our own sources. We hardly managed to sweep water away from our houses but the water-flood destroyed all our harvest. We are in hard situation. The officials from the district administration just accompanied journalists in our village and gave interviews to them; since then they have not appeared here,” said residents of Naindrovali.

Lagodekhi district governor Gia Gozalishvili stated the district administration has already appealed to the humanitarian organizations to aid the victimized people. As for the funds that shall be allocated from the local or central budgets, this issue is not being discussed yet.
