Inhabitants of Akhasheni VS Local Authority

October 20, 2009

The inhabitants of the village of Akhasheni in Gurjaani district opposed the local authority. According to the locals, the representatives of Gurjaani district administration and Kakheti regional administration promised them to supply the village with gas before the parliamentary elections on 21 may 2008, but have not kept their promise yet.

“If you vote for the National Movement and their candidate George Ghviniashvili, we will supply the whole village with gas,” they promised. Polling station was opened in public school of the village. Large amount of pipes were brought to the village on the previous day of elections and left them in the yard of the public school. People thought they would have gas, but on the second day when Ghviniashvili won the elections, the miles were taken back by trucks. Ghviniashvili is now governor of Kakheti region and we request him to reply to us now,” said the inhabitants of Akhasheni.

Deputy regional governor George Sibashvili, who was head of Gurjaani election HQ of the National Movement for the parliamentary elections, does not confirm the complaints of the villagers. “It did not happen during our governance, we did not bring any pipes in support of Ghviniashvili,” said Sibashvili.
