Inhabitants of Cheremi Village Request Electricity

October 22, 2009

Inhabitants of the Village of Cheremi in Gurjaani district, who have lived without electricity for 16 years, ask for help.

Village of Cheremi is linked with its district centre by an extremely damaged road. For this reason locals rarely visit Gurjaani. Villagers gather in the centre of the village everyday and request to meet local officials. They are waiting for the reply to their question, when the Kakheti regional governor will keep his pre-election promise and supply the village with electricity.

Despite the request of the population, officials did not visit village.

According to the deputy regional governor Giorgi Sibashvili, they cannot supply the village with electricity for this year. “Next year we might do it and repair the road in the village too. We are working on these problems,” said Sibashvili.
