Employees of the Company “Road 11” Started Hunger-Strike

November 3, 2009

25 employees of the company “Road 11” located in Lilo settlement, Tbilisi started hunger-strike near the office requesting their salaries. According to Lavrenti Alania the head of the Trade Union of Georgian Transport and Road Construction, participants of the hunger-strikers have not received their salaries for 8-12 months and the debt to them has reached about 55 000 GEL. “This problem is not new. We appealed to the director of the company Rostom Mikautadze earlier to pay salaries to the employees and they paid only one month salary. Now Mikautadze promised to transfer money again. Unless money is transferred and salary lists are drawn up, employees will continue hunger-strike” said Alania and explained that the workers of the company “Road 11” repaired several streets in Tetri Tskaro district, in the villages of Gremisxevi, Jorjiashvilebi, Tsintskaro, Bolnisi and streets in Tbilisi too.
