Peter Semneby: “EU Will Do Everything for the Release of the Four Children”

Peter Semneby, special representative of the EU in South Caucasus, said the EU wants observer mission to enter conflict regions too and monitor the situation there.

During his meeting with the EU ambassadors in the hotel Radisson Peter Semneby said: “We are not oriented on changing the format of observer mission. We aim to enter conflict regions and monitor the situation there too. Our mission plays important role in conflict zones.”

According to the EU representative, the EU does everything for the release of four Georgian children detained in Tskhinvali. “We will do our best for the release of the children. The EU is deeply concerned about this incident.”

Militiamen of Tskhinvali de-facto government arrested pupils of Tirdznisi public school: Giorgi Romelashvili (born in 1995), Aleko Sabadze (born 1995), Victor Buchukuri (born in 1993) and Levan Khmiadashvili (born in 1992).

According to the MIA of Georgia, under-age children disappeared in the afternoon of November 4 in the village of Tirdznisi of Gori district.

Tskhinvali militiamen claim the children had grenades and explosives. According to them the trial will be held on juveniles, however they do not mention exact date of trial. According to the current information, health conditions of the children have worsened.
