Population affected by natural disaster opposed Lagodekhi District Governer

November 25, 2009

Governor of the district, Gia Gozalishvili was accused of being careless by inhabitants of the village of Uzuntala of Lagodekhi district affected by natural disaster. According to the villagers, they appealed to the Governor several times after the flood, they even went to the district administration to meet him, but Gozalishvili refused to meet them.

“He told us to get off! But we are not dogs. He does not answer our phone calls. He drove to the village on his jeep a couple of times but left quickly. We are in terrible conditions. Some of us removed mud from houses, but some did not afford this. The yards of several houses are flooded. We need technique, but nobody helps us. The roads are damaged and it is very difficult to move. Nobody pays any attention to us. The water took away everything we had. People are hungry”, - say inhabitants of the village of Uzuntala.

According to our information, not long ago Gia Gozalishvili shouted abuse to the inhabitants of the village of Matsima. They went into the streets to held a protest with a request for the provision of drinking water. The governor called them blind publicly.

According to Gia Gozalishvili, information about insults to the population is not true.
