Undesirable People Cannot Enter Parliament Building

December 1, 2009

Parents of Amiran Robakidze, Zurab Vazagashvili and Giorgi Gamtsemlidze (killed during special operation by law enforcement officers) were banned to enter the parliament building. Their permits, issued by MP Dimitri Lortkipanidze, were abolished.

MP Lortkipanidze protested this fact at the plenary session on December 1. Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Davit Bakradze promised the MP to clear up the situation.

Later, it was found out that parents of the killed young men were not allowed into the parliament building based on the list which was handed to the security guard of the building; the names of people who have insulted or assaulted MPs are on the list. The Security Service Department of the Parliament has special requirements for these people.

Reportedly, the Security Service Department of the Parliament inserted youth organizations “Movement November 7” and “Protect Life” on the “black list”; members of these organizations cannot enter the parliament.

According to Davit Bakradze, several months ago those people threw stones and eggs at the members of the parliament, poured water on them and insulted; consequently, these people do not have right to enter the building of the parliament.

“We all should have different attitude towards these people regardless our position. It is issue of personal dignity. The person, who assaults and insults our colleague should not feel themselves equal to others and attend the parliament sessions without restrictions,” said Bakradze.

Christian Democrat Party requests to set up a temporary investigative commission to investigate famous murders. Chairperson of the parliamentary fraction Giorgi Akhvlediani raised this question at the plenary session who spoke about murder of Sandro Girgvliani, Amiran Robakidze and Zurab Vazagashvili in details.

About two months ago, members of the “Movement November 7” Dachi Tsaguria, Irakli Kordzaia and Jaba Jishkariani petitioned to the parliament to set up special investigative commission. They request the MPs to investigate the murders of Zurab Vazagashvili, Aleksandre Khubulov, Amiran Robakidze, Sandro Girgvliani, Giorgi Gamtsemlidze, Roin Shavadze, Aprasidzes and others. According to their petition, the commission should investigate the murder of Guram Sharadze too.
