River Alazani Misappropriates 204 Hectares of Georgian Territory

“River Alazani changed its bed and as a result of the next flood Georgia will lose 204 hectares of territory” representative of Society of Naturalists Kakha Sukhitashvili stated at the meeting of the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network.

According to him, territory seized by the river will remain on Azerbaijan territory or in the middle of the river as an island. River Alazani endangers the only way which connects Georgia with so called Nut Bay, said Sukhitashvili.

Nut Bay is considered to be natural monument and is located on Vashlovani Reserve.

“This problem really exists in Dedoplistskaro district, but locals cannot resolve this problem or carry out proper arrangements,” stated the head of press service of Dedoplistskaro district municipality board Ana Benashvili.
