January 14, 2010

The residents of the villages of Ninotsminda and Tskarostavi in Sagarejo District are going to paralyze activities of the Oil Company “Kanargo Georgia” in protest.

According to them, the court does not discuss their appeal impartially; they had requested compensations from the Oil Company.

“We appealed to the court in 2005, Besik Sisvidze, the judge at Tbilisi City Court granted the appeal and appointed ecological expertise. However, later the decision was disappeared from case materials. Finally the court refused to grant appeal and we filed complaint to the Appeal Court. The Appeal Court put the same judge in charge of our case. Despite that, we continue to appeal against the company. However, at the same time, we are going to paralyze the Oil Company, we requested the company to pay compensations to us”, stated the resident of the village of Ninotsminda.

The huge amount of oil and gas exploded on the bore-well #100 in the village of Ninotsminda in Sagarejo District on September10, 2004.
