Mikheil Saakashvili Offers USA His Assistance in the Fight against Taliban Terrorists

February 1, 2010

Mikheil Saakashvili, the president of Georgia offered the USA territory of Georgia to use in the fight against Taliban terrorists by NATO troops. According to the Ukrainian News Agency “Unian”, Saakashvili stated it in his interview with the Associated Press.

According to Saakashvili, he is ready to allow NATO ships to use seaport of Georgia and NATO military aircrafts can use airfields of Georgia to re-charge with fuel and for other technical services.

The president of Georgia considers that realizations of his ideas will not annoy Moscow, because Russia is eager to launch anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan.

According to official Pentagon, the USA was informed about the proposal of the president of Georgia, but they have not studied the sentence in details yet.
