In total, in the second round of the presidential elections, according to final data of the Ukrainian CEC Victor Ianukovich is wining the elections.

“Georgia appreciates the choice of the Ukrainian population,” said the deputy foreign minister of Georgia Nino Kalandadze at the traditional briefing in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She added, that based on the close relations between Georgian and Ukrainian peoples we cannot see any threats of our further relations.

According to Kalandadze, despite skeptical attitude towards Ianukovich, the government of Georgia will continue cooperation with any authority of the Ukraine. Deputy Minister said that assumptions as if Ukraine shall review visa-regime with Georgia and recognize conflict regions are groundless.

“Many European states can be jealous about fair elections of the Ukraine. Ukrainian democracy has won,” said president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in his interview with the TV-Company “Ukraine” in the talk-show Shuster Live.

President Saakashvili was interviewed on February 7. He said, despite the results of the elections, Tbilisi and Kiev will remain strategic partners. “Ukraine is my strategic partner and we have common interests. I think, that Ukraine has potential to become regional leader,” said president of Georgia.
