Protest Rally In Telavi to Support Vakhtang Komakhidze

The journalists who work in Kakheti region held silent protest rally to support Vakhtang Komakhidze, the head of studio “Reporter” and investigator journalist. Tamar Khidasheli, the head of Young Lawyers Association and Tamar Gurchiani, the lawyer of the GYLA joined the protest rally in Telavi.

According to the law, the chief prosecutor’s office should start investigation about the statements of Vakhtang Komakhidze, which was published in news sources. The facts that the officials from the SOD and CSD accompanied Vakhtang Komakhidze from house to the airport and threatened him with physical liquidation of him and his family members should be investigated adequately. We are waiting for Vakhtang Komakhidze to get in touch with us in order to provide him with legal aid”, stated Tamar Khidasheli.

Komakhidze requested political asylum from the government of Switzerland several days ago. According to the journalist, his professional activity is restricted and the freedom, health and life of Vakhtang Komkhidze and his family members is in danger. Vakhtang Komakhidze is in the shelter of refugees in Geneva.
