Public Defender announced competition for journalists on tolerance and diversity. Tolerance Centre at the Public Defender’s Office will hold competition with the support of UNDP.
Applicants should submit article published in periodical (daily, weekly, monthly) edition throughout Georgia from February 18 to October 15, 2010. The article should be related with following topics: Inter-ethnic and inter-religion relationships in Georgia; Daily life, culture and traditions of various ethnicity and active religions in Georgia; potential of tolerant development in the country; Conditions of ethnic minorities in Georgia; problem of intolerance, discrimination and xenophobia in society; analysis of religious and ethnic stereotypes in society; international experience in the fight against intolerance, discrimination, xenophobia and extremism and their reflection in Georgia; different aspects of relationships between state and religious unions.
Released publication should maintain the development of tolerant environment in society, respect of cultural diversity and initiative of discussion about above-mentioned questions.
Winners of the competition will be nominated by special commission invited by the Public Defender. Winners will receive special awards and prizes. Deadline for submission is October 15, 2010.
