Foundation “Open Society – Georgia” Responded to Vakhtang Komakhidze’s Statement

Foundation “Open Society – Georgia” released special statement about Vakhtang Komakhidze’s request for political asylum to the government of Switzerland.

Foundation “Open Society-Georgia” is concerned about the fact that the journalist of studio “Reporter” Vakhtang Komakhidze left his country and requested political asylum in Switzerland. Foundation hopes that fair investigation will be carried out and he will be able to continue his journalistic activities in his homeland,” it is mentioned in the statement.

Komakhidze requested political asylum from the government of Switzerland several days ago. According to the journalist, his professional activities in Georgia are restricted and freedom, health and life of his family members are in danger. Vakho Komakhidze is in refugee shelter in Geneva at the moment.

Ministry of Internal affairs has not started investigation about Vakho Komakhidze’s statement so far.
