Provocation Happened on the First Day of Reopening Larsi Border Checkpoint

March 4, 2010

Resident of Kazbegi district Zaza Tsiklauri reported that provocation was attempted on the very first day the Larsi Border Checkpoint was opened. However, media sources did not spread information about it.

Zaza Tsiklauri spoke about the provocation on March 4 in the parliament during his meeting with Christian Democrats and Experts.

According to him, as soon as the checkpoint was reopened “Ossetian people approached the border and requested to let them pass without visas. Otherwise they threatened with locking the passing point on the other side.”

Zaza Tsiklauri said, for that particular reason nobody passed through the border on March 1.

Zaza Tsiklauri is sure that reopening of Larsi border checkpoint was Russian initiative and Moscow needs it for provocation.

He added that Ossetian people plan to enter Truso Gorge and then they will blame Georgian people in looting their houses.

Resident of Kazbegi district said it is impossible because Ossetian people fled from Truso Gorge years ago. It is nonsense to speak about it, because even if it is true, robbers could not find anything in their houses.
