Vano Merabishvili Does Not Take Advice from Europe

April 7, 2010

Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vano Merabishvili thinks that Georgia should not take the advice of Europe - he said in his interview with the Russian newspaper Kommersant.
He also added that “the clever part of the West” loves Georgia.

“We simply take decisions ourselves and do not listen to others. Have you visited our military base in Karaleti? A special unit is deployed there together with our soldiers. We have purchased armored cars “Cobras” for our special unit although the European side opposed our decision. They did not want to provoke Russians but we did not listen to them and we do not have victims in the zone since then,” said Merabishvili.

The minister concluded that taking the suggestions of European side into consideration is mostly useless.
