Noghaideli’s Political Party Complains of Oppression by the Government

April 23, 2010
The head of the Rustavi office of the Movement for the Just Georgia Nukri Shatirishvili speaks about the oppression of their members. He said, at the approaching elections, the rights of those people are breached who visited their office at least once.

“About ten days ago, the resident of the village of Sartichala got interested in the work of our party. He conversed with our local coordinator Valiko Beridze. The citizen wished to cooperate with us. On the next day strange people visited him and warned against meeting with us. We will appeal to the police regarding this fact. Of course, we do not hope they will react on it but we will send the copy of our appeal to the US Embassy,” said Shatirishvili.

He thinks their coordinator in Tetritskaro district refused to continue his activities for the party because of politically motivated oppression. Wife of the Marneuli district coordinator Piran Maisuradze also faced some problems at work. “She is teacher at public school. After we interfered in the fact, the administration changed their decision to dismiss her from job. Our representative is oppressed in Gardabani. So, we cannot work actively.”

At the approaching elections, the opposition parties in Kvemo Kartli started to speak about the intimidation facts more often.
