The Georgian Young Lawyers Association blames the ruling party in the control of the voters’ decision. The GYLA also blames the National Movement in the violation of the constitutional principle of the anonymity during the elections and in the violation of the Article 8 of the Election Code. More precisely, the agitators of the ruling party and so called coordinators are mobilized outside every polling station and register the arrival of every potential supporter. The GYLA also mentioned the yesterday’s statement of one of the leaders of the ruling party Pavle Kublashvili who said that the activists of the National Movement would register the supporters of the National Movement outside the PS.
“It completely contradicts the constitutional principle of anonymity and the article 8 of the Election Code; the latter prohibits any sort of influence on a voter and restriction of voter’s will,” stated the head of the GYLA Tamar Khidasheli. Besides that, she added that the yesterday’s statement of Kublashvili contradict the spirit of the National Movement before the presidential elections of 2008. “Then, the chairman of the parliament Davit Bakradze stated in reply to the statement of the opposition parties to deploy their activists outside the polling stations: “Existence of politically motivated people outside the PS will create discomfort for the voters as well as destabilization and provocations,” clarified Khidasheli. According to the GYLA, similar facts do not happen only outside the polling stations but inside the buildings too. For example, in the polling station # 49 of the election district # 8 the representative of the National Movement does not register the number of their supporters who arrive at the PS and asks them to prove their participation in the election process by signature,” said Khidasheli.
