Oppression on Voters and Observer Journalists

May 30, 2010
In the polling station # 7 in Aspindza election district # 39, 55-year-old Irina Kedelashvili marked the ballot paper directly on the registration table. She marked number 5 and stated that she cannot make other choice because her one son is a policeman and second son is a military servant. Consequently, she needed to announce her choice publicly. The observers did not rebuke her for similar violation.

In the polling station # 7 in Adigeni election district # 38 law enforcement officers requested the journalists of the local newspaper Samkhretis Karibche – Nino Narimanishvili and Manana Sarashvili to leave the PS and close eyes on violations. A policeman reminded Manana Sarashvili that she had father and brother who could face some problems if she did not obey their orders.
