Entrepreneur Insulted Journalists of the Newspaper “Spektri”

May 31, 2010
Owner of the auto-service complex in the village of Magharo in Sighnaghi district Gela Kerelashvili insulted the journalists of the newspaper “Spektri”. He threatened them with physical assault.

The editorial-board of the newspaper “Spektri” reported that journalists tried to find out how legally Gela Kerelashvili purchased the property of the former collective farm in the village. The journalists worked based on the appeal of local inhabitants.

“Besides that, according to our information, Gela Kerelashvili produces and sells sunflower, wheat, barley and various cereals without corresponding documents. The journalists tried to check this information at the place when Gela Kerelashvili insulted them and threatened with physical assault,” stated the editorial board of the newspaper.

Gela Kerelashvili did not comment on the assault of the journalists.

The editorial board of the newspaper urges the non-governmental and media organizations to support them; they also appealed to the Sighnaghi district police department regarding the incident.
