Opposition Parties Report Secret HQs of National Movement Worked near Precincts

The municipal elections finished without incidents in Poti. According to official data, the National Movement won elections.

Observer of the Free Development and Human Rights Organization Eliso Janashia said that during the elections, law enforcement officers were at the polling station # 1. In accordance to the Article 50, Part 5 of the Election Code, law enforcement officers shall not be at the polling station. According to the observer, after she protested the fact and wrote a complaint, the commission chairman Gocha Giorgadze insulted her. Janashia blames the Poti DEC # 70 Zaal Kuchukhidze in blackmailing her.

The commission members of the PS # 1 state that one of the policemen was a voter and they soon left the area. Chairman of the DEC claims he did not insult anybody.

Leaders of the Alliance for Georgia in Poti state that the government misappropriated the administrative resources. In fact, secret HQs of the ruling party were working near almost every polling station; the voters were oppressed there – they were ordered to vote for the National Movement and take photo of the marked number 5 by mobile phones.

According to the Alliance, similar secret HQ was opened near the PS # 27 in the house near Kurkovski Park. A commission member Juna Sichinava (chairwoman of the Maltakva municipal board) was bringing ballot papers from the house. The Alliance did not file complaint to the DEC regarding the violation because the HQ was closed as soon as their representative discovered it. Local leaders of the Alliance said they have a list of group members who worked in the HQs. The member of the National Forum gave them the list. The group members were mostly the employees of the Poti Port.

Single mandate candidate of the National Forum in Maltakva Mogeli Tkebuchava blames the National Movement in the election propaganda outside the polling station.
