Municipal Elections Will Be Repeatedly Held in Zemo Lambalo Village

June 7, 2010
In the village of Zemo Lambalo in Sagarejo district the municipal elections with majoritarian system will be held for the second time. The Central Election Commission (CEC) spread information about it.

CEC Chairman Zurab Kharatishvili stated that election results in the polling stations # 46 and 47 in Sagarejo district were annulled based on the video-recordings of the Human Rights Center.

“Initially the organization appealed to the Sagarejo district election commission (DEC) but they did not provide the evidence here. After they presented the video-recordings of the violations, the CEC studied the cases and sent materials to the DEC which annulled the results in the two polling stations,” said Kharatishvili.

It is noteworthy that on the previous day, the Human Rights Center provided the video-recordings to the DEC too but the chairperson did not accept them.

The exact date for the repeated municipal elections is not estimated yet.
