389 200 GEL for the Cars of Supreme Council Members of Adjara

June 17, 2010
The Supreme Council of the Adjara Autonomous Republic purchased 8 new cars. Each of them cost 48 650 GEL. In total, the budget spent 389 200 GEL for the comfortable transportation of the council members.

The Mercedes-cars of 1991 served the members of the Supreme Council until now, but now the modern Mitsubishi-cars will serve them. The new cars were purchased for the deputy chairman of the supreme council, for the chairpersons of two fractions and five commissions.

Head of the Supreme Court administration Levan Khozrevanidze justifies the purchase of the new cars because 40 000 GEL was spent on the repair of the old cars last year.

2 out of the new 8 cars were assigned to the council members from the opposite party –Christian Democrat Movement: one of them is deputy chairman Niaz Zosidze and the second is the chairman of the fraction Christian Democrats Nugzar Putkaradze.

Niaz Zosidze said that he had never agreed to purchase luxurious cars.

Levan Khozrevanidze said that the new cars need less fuel than old ones. However, the Supreme Council has not discussed the reduction of the fuel expenses yet.

The council members spend 5 800 liters of fuel per month. 1 200 of it is spent on the two cars of the chairman of the Supreme Council Mikheil Makharadze. The chairmen of the commissions and fractions use only 400 liters per month.
