Personnel Changes in Khoni District Administration and Municipal Board
June 23, 2010
There are 22 members in the recently elected municipal board of Khoni district. 10 of them were elected from the party lists, while 12 members were singled mandate candidates. Like other districts, every single mandate candidate represents the United National Movement in Khoni district too.
There are only two members of the Khoni district municipal board from the opposition parties. Ilo Kuparadze represents the Alliance for Georgia from the New Rights. Gia Khalichava represents the Christian-Democrat Movement. These two board members are not enough to set up opposition fraction. Despite that, Ilo Kuparadze requested to be the chairperson of one of the fractions in the board, but was refused.
Number one candidate of the United National Movement in Khoni district, Levan Bobokhidze, did not attend the first session. Giorgi Gelenidze was elected for the position of the chairman of the municipal board. Before, he was head of the property management department in the district administration. Rezo Partskhaladze is the deputy chairman.
Four commissions were set up in the municipal board. Merab Moseshvili will lead the legal commission, Lasha Kvabziridze will lead the financial commission, Robert Rukhadze – commission of economics and infrastructure, and former chairman of the municipal board will be leader of the budget commission.
As it was expected, two fractions – “Single Mandate Members” and United National Movement were set up in the board. Jaba Saghinadze will be the head of the first fraction and Lado Sulaberidze will be the head of the second fraction.
Board members elected district governor Zurab Jibukhaia. Former district governor Vakhtang Balavadze is now member of the municipal board.
