Contest for Human Rights Journalist

Contest for Human Rights Journalist

The Human Rights Center (HRIDC) opening a competition for journalists on the topic of Human Rights.

The competition is supported by the Embassies of Switzerland and the Netherlands in Georgia as well as by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Cross Caucasus Journalism Network of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting.

The aim of the contest is to reveal best journalistic works on human rights. The deadline for the competition is 3 December 2007. There are three categories:

1. journalistic investigation
2. article
3. news item on a human rights topic

The competition is open to journalists from Georgia. The centre especially welcomes entries from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region. The writings can be submitted in either Georgian, Russian or English. The journalistic works should have been published either in print or on on-line media in 2007.

The winners of each category will be awarded with 300 euros, prizes by the OSCE and a certificate as well as a Cross Caucasus Journalism Network Project Prize for Outstanding Conflict Reporting.

The awarding ceremony will take place on 10 December 2007, International Day of Human Rights.
