The Case of those Arrested in Relation to TV “Caucasia” Incident has been Reopened.

The case of eight persons arrested in relation to the incident at TV “Caucasia” has been reopened in the Tbilisi city court on July 15.
The court investigation is currently interrogating of witnesses. Among those of interest are police officers and TV “Caucasia” employees. Nino Jangirashvili, Aleko Elisashvili, four operators of the TV station, Beka Mindiashvili, Sergo Ratiani from the Ilia’s University, and over 20 policemen are currently being questioned. The case will be heard by the judge of the Tbilisi City Court, Mileri Kharebava.
There are eight primary suspects in the case: Shota Apkhaidze, Rati Maisuradze, Levan Chachua, Giorgi Gabedava, Davit Shalamberidze, Avtandil Zumbadze, Zviad Bliadze and Jaba Gurjiani.
They are accused of the illegal obstruction of professional journalistic activities which is possibly subject to a two year prison sentence and hooliganism, a possible five year imprisonment. Joint term of imprisonment for these two convictions equals sever years.
The incident at the TV “Caucasia”  occurred on May 7.
