Rezo Kakhniashvili threw eggs at Nino Burjanadze

August 13, 2010
Saba Tsitsikashvili, Gori

“I witnessed how Putin called Saakashvili and strictly warned him not to start the war and bomb peacekeepers,” – stated Nino Burjanadze on August 12th in the live broadcasting of the local television company “Trialeti.” For two hours Nino Burjanadze was answering calls of the region population. This program became one of the highest rated ones according to the received calls.

Several hours before, Burjanadze had an incident in the IDP settlement. The leader of “Democratic Movement – United Georgia” showed up unexpectedly for the media on August 12th. The leader of the opposition party came there to visit Marina Bejashvili, an oncologic patient. But before approaching the settlement, she was met by approximately twenty people who purposely started verbal insulting of the leader of the opposition party.

According to Nino Burjanadze, this group is headed by Revaz Kakhniashvili. Kakhniashvili is the head of the bureau of Badri Basiashvili, the deputy from Liakhvi valley. He was elected for the former Sakrebulo as well, but left the post on his personal request. By the way, Kakhniashvili always attends Burjanadze’s visits in the region and is always active. The photo shows one of his active deeds.

Nino Burjanadze was unable to talk peacefully to Bejashvili because of Badri Basishvili’s companions. The former head of parliament made a statement about this in the local media.
“Several men were repeating the same that they didn’t want to listen to me. They were covering their ears trying not to hear the truth that I was going to talk about. They would not let me conduct the meeting in the normal regime. There were provocations used to intensify the situation, but we never responded to their provocation,” – stated Nino Burjanadze in the live broadcasting.

As Luka Kurtanidze, the member of Nino Burjanadze’s party stated, some people threw stones at Nino Burjanadze: “We were informed from the Khurvaleti settlement that some people even used eggs against the guests.”

Nino Burjanadze answered questions in the live broadcasting of the “Trialeti” local television channel. Despite the fact that the screen never indicated the telephone number, the IDPs from Eredvi were calling in the live broadcasting. At first, they basically expressed their negative attitude towards the political path that Nino Burjanadze is taking. During the 2 hour broadcasting, the number of calls of supporters increased. The interactive showed that out of 1300 calls, 620 people thought that the August war could have been avoided.
