Batumi City Court passes 11 year prison sentence against an under-aged.

August 20, 2010
Batumi City Court passed a sentence of 11 years and one month in prison against underaged Nika Buadze. 16 years old Nika Buadze was judged with the charge of physical damage of the police official Malkhaz Gabaidze. The incident took place on November 17th, 2009 in Batumi, in the crossroad of Chavchavadze and Japaridze streets.

According to the charge presented to the court by prosecutor Pridon Qartsivadze, Buadze wounded the police officer Makhaz Gabaidze in the belly area with an iron object.
According to the lawyer of Nika Buadze, Nana Andguladze, the relevant evidence proving his client’s guilt does not exist.

“The court repeated the same mistake made by the preliminary investigation. The verdict was made with a rough violation of law. The Court didn’t consider any evidence presented by us. The imprint examination proves that the policeman fell and that’s how he was injured,” – stated Nana Andguladze.

According to lawyer, the policeman himself should be arraigned: “Policeman Malkhaz Gabaidze committed minimum indifference, since he destroyed material evidence and didn’t report to the police officials. The policeman himself should be arraigned.”
