The Dismissal of Teachers Is Continuing

September 6, 2010
Rusudan Mamulashvili, the performer of duties of principal at Gurjaani Public School in the village of Gurjaani, region Gurjaani, dismissed 23 teachers pursuant to article 37, paragraph D of part I (cancellation of the labor agreement).

“The primary reason of the teachers’ dismissal happened to be the low work load and a new stuff schedule. Some of them wrote the application of resignation independently,” – states Rusudan Mamulashvili.

Part of the dismissed teachers are blaming the performer of principal’s duties in the violation of their rights and are going to submit a complaint to Court with the request of their job renewal. According to them, their labor agreement was registered till 2012.

From the public school of village Chumlayi, Gurjaani region, 19 teachers were dismissed. The cancellation of the labor agreement was indicated as a basis for their dismissal.

“The primary reason of dismissal is the low work load of teachers, several teachers were teaching elective classes at school that’s not needed anymore,” – stated Chumlayi public school Principal Elene Tatiashvili to Kakheti Information Center.

As a reminder, the mass dismissal of teachers from public schools started in August. According to human rights defending organization Human Rights Center, more than 500 teachers have been dismissed in the region.
