45 Teachers Brought Suit to the Court in Kakheti Region

September 17, 2010
45 teachers, who were dismissed from public schools, brought suit to the district courts in Kakheti region. The non-governmental organization Human Rights Center provided them with legal assistance. The lawyers of the NGO said the directors fired the teachers from schools illegally.

“In accordance to the Article 43 – “g” of the Law of Georgia on General Education, a school director is entitled to suspend the labor agreement with the teacher for breaching the agreement conditions, for inadequate activities or if the poor qualification of the teacher is proved in accordance to the law. The school directors did not provide any grounded argument for firing the teachers,” said the representatives of the human rights organization.
