Geno Malazonia Released from Prison

September 20, 2010

General Director of the JSC “Energy Invest” Geno Malazonia has been released from Prison.

The prosecutor’s office reported that the plea-agreement was signed with Malazonia. Terms of the agreement will be known later.

The prosecutor’s office also announced that Malazonia was released several days ago; he was in pretrial detention when he enjoyed his right to silence.

Geno Malazonia is accused in illegal entrepreneurial activity. The violation was found on the license his company “Energy Invest” had gained in 2006 on obtaining the electricity. According to the allegation, the director of the company had breached the requirements of the license and did not keep accountancy documents separately. In doing so, he received 65 million more GEL as an income.

He was detained on 19 May, 2010.
