The Head of Chamber of Control Builds Hotel in Signagi

September 20, 2010

The head of Georgia Chamber of Control Levan Bejashvili is building a hotel in the territory of an old billiard, in Signagi. As the resident of Signagi, lawyer Tengiz Bejashvili stated to Kakheti Information Center, Levan Bejashvili took over this territory while holding a governor’s post in Kakheti. According to him, the building of billiard belonged to the private owner Gogi Chirinashvili, who was deprived of his property.

According to Tengiz Bejashvili, the hotel construction is supervised by the father of the head of Chamber of Control Jumber Bejashvili.

“The father of Levan Bejashvili was supervising the construction. Levan Bejashvili himself often came and observed the territory, mainly on weekends. I often witnessed this fact. Bejashvili is building a fashionable hotel. When he was a governor of Kakheti, back then and now too, when he is a head of Chamber of Control, he is ordering the local government and construction companies to implement certain works in the hotel under construction. A lot of money is spent unpurposefully. They spread stones and call it the pavement. Nobody learns about the purposes of spending. Even the chamber of control doesn’t check it,” – stated Tengiz Bejashvili.

The information regarding the building of hotel by Levan Bejashvili in the territory of an old billiard was confirmed to Kakheti Information Center by other residents.

Kakheti Information Center numerous times tried contact Levan Bejashvili for a comment, but with no results. The head of the administration of Chamber of Control Giorgi Botkoveli noted that he would inform Levan Bejashvili on what topic we need his comment, but Botkoveli doesn’t respond to our phone calls anymore.

The former owner of the property Gogi Chirinashvili won’t comment on the seizure of the territory of old billiard.

The Signagi Registration Service of the Agency of Public Registry stated that the territory of old billiard was really under the ownership of Gogi Chirinashvili during a year, but later he “sold out” his property. In order to give out other information, the Signagi Registration Service of the Agency of Public Registry requested the written application and receipt confirming the fee. According to them, the information would be given out in ten days after the registration of the request.

The journalistic investigation on this matter will be available the journalistic investigative group in the nearest future on http://www.ick.ge/
