Human Rights Center Blames “Kakheti Energo-distribution” in Violation of Subscribers’ Rights

October 4, 2010
Human Rights Center blames “Kakheti Energo-distribution” in violation of subscribers’ rights. As the human rights defending organization stated, despite the payment of electricity fees by the subscribers, the energy company is asking for payment for the second time, and in case of non-payment is threatening with ceasing the electricity supply.

For example, Human Rights Center Kakheti Office has fully paid 143 GEL electricity fee. The organization representative presented the written documentation confirming the payment numerous times, but the company is asking for the payment once again.

“For two months we have been trying to clarify this matter, but the company is persistently asking for payment for the second time. They won’t consider the money already paid. According to their statement, it is not indicated in the balance. And this happens when we presented the document issued by the bank twice confirming the payment. Nevertheless, company is threatening with the ceasing of electricity. Practically, the company is forcefully trying to extort the money,” – noted Human Rights Center Kakheti Office.

Joint-stock company “Kakheti Energo-distribution” didn’t comment on the matter.
