October 4, 2010
On October 3rd,at the surrounding territory of the military unit in Telavi, the families of reservists held a protest rally. According to the protest rally participants, the individuals with limited capacities are also brought to the reserve. Besides, the protest rally participants are asking for explanations from the Ministry representatives on the question why it’s become urgent to mobilize and prepare the reservists and individuals who have gone through the army service.

“He went through the surgery not too long ago. Half of his liver was cut off. He is sick but the medical commission considered him fit for military service. They don’t want to know if he is healthy or not. He is sent to every military training,” – noted one of the participants of the protest rally.

According to the head of Telavi Military Department Sergi Kalandarishvili, doctors are checking every individual and in case they have health problems, they are sent to additional examination or considered unfit for military service.

“It was unexpected for us to receive a command from the Defense Ministry and call for reservists,” – stated the Telavi Municipality local government.

Defense Ministry won’t comment on the mass calling of reservists.
