Foreigners Are More Interested in Poti Industrial Zone

Foreign investors are more interested in Poti free industrial zone than Georgians. Out of 22 companies registered in the industrial zone, only nine is Georgian. The rest of the companies are mainly from Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tukery, Ukraine, Czech Republic and USA.

The representatives of industrial zone state that companies which will be working in the free industrial zone of Poti, will be freed from different taxes, including, the property and import tax, plus 15 % income tax and tax of additional cost. The free industrial zone of Poti is situated on 300 hectare.

The businessmen association assures that Georgian companies are interested in entering Poti free industrial zone. But, the industrial zone is attracting mainly for companies working on the export. According to association members, it might be that Georgian business is waiting for the increase of work in the industrial zone to observe the companies working there.
