Tbilisi City Court Judge Vazha Pukhashvili passed sentence of preliminary imprisonment as a compulsory measure against individual undertaker of LLC “Kidobani” Nino Lortkipanidze, a relative of actor Givi Berikashvili. Nino Lortkipanidze is one of the 18 individual undertakers the case of compulsory measure of whose was discussed on October 7th by the judge Pukhashvili.
The judge didn’t consider the petition of Nino Lortkipanidze’s lawyer to release the detainee under 10 000 GEL as a compulsory measure. The lawyer explained at the trial that the release of Nino Lortkipanidze, the daughter of Givi Berikashvili’s relative Guram Lortkipanidze, would not endanger the interests of investigation.
According to lawyer, Nino Lortkipanidze has a permanent residence in Tbilisi, has a family, does not have a criminal record, is ready to pay 10 000 GEL bail, that is the guarantee that she won’t hide from the investigation or destroy the documentation. The lawyer also noted that as she is the breadwinner of the family and her family members will have problems with her arrest.
But the judge Vazha Pukhashvili didn’t consider this petition of the lawyer and satisfied the request of Invetigative Department of Finance Ministry which was requesting the arrest of Nino Lortkipanidze.
According to lawyer, when the individual undertakers signed the documents, they didn’t look in them, since there was a line of 70 people and it was hard to read 40 pages in such a circumstance. The documents turned out to be falsified by the company “Trans.”
18 convicts were sentenced by Vazha Pukhashvili. They are the officials of “Trans,” “Kidobani” and “Passage.” They are all convicted in using false financial documents. They were detained on October 4-5th.
8 detainees were sentenced with preliminary imprisonment by Vazha Pukhashvili, the rest 10 – with bail of 5000-10000 GEL.
Givi and Manana Berikashvilis attended the trial. Givi Berikashvili restrained from commenting on the decision of judge to avoid problems for Nino Lortkipanidze. But, before the trial, the actor stated that he can’t understand why Nino Lortkipanidze was arrested.
According to Berikashvili, Lortkipanidze states that she never traded with unregistered goods and always registered everything: “She is arrested for transportation. As they state she had signed some documents. As I know she had everything registered on the customs. I came to find out the details of the case. She had a single bag of clothes. She had no connection to drug transportation and why should she be arrested,” – stated Givi Berikashvili.
According to the daughter of actor Manana Berikashvili, Nino Lortkipanidze is her cousin, she is art critic and had a place rented in the trade center “Kidobani.”
